I’d never thought of using rosin to keep pointe shoe heels in place; that’s brilliant! In the mid-1970s into the 1980s, my partner — and several other women — used Elmer’s Glue — she’d put 3 or 4 drops inside the heel of her pointe shoe (we called them “toe shoes” then) and the glue adhered her tights to the heel of her shoe. No “heel popping” in performance, and the glue washed out of the tights if she had to wear them again.
